From Darkness Comes Light – Poetry

Take a look around you,

See the heartache and the pain

The world is full of anger,

The world is trapped in chains.

The illusion of separation,

Inside your heads, you cower

Tactics of intimidation,

Make you forget your inner power.

You came here on a mission,

And that mission was to thrive

Over time this was forgotten,

Now you struggle to survive.

Now in your darkest hour,

The fight may seem lost.

Greed and hatred they overpower,

Your hearts yet covered in frost.

From darkness, comes the light.

A spark within you all

Find strength for one last fight

Empires always fall.

On the horizon is a sunrise

Glorious, abundant & alive.

Obliterating all corruption,

Illuminating all its lies.

Burning away the cancer

That has enslaved your minds,

Dismantling the limitations,

Placed upon humankind.

From ashes, you will rise,

From dust, you shall soar

Bringing you all together

As you once were, before.

A Flash of Inspiration.

I’m quite new to the form but am increasingly finding it to be a great medium for expressing short and impactful stories, most people don’t have time to invest in a whole novel these days, so these short bite sized bursts are far more digestable.

Poetic Catharsis.

Scary as it may be to bare my soul to the world through my poetry, it is most cathartic and genuinely helps me to understand my emotions more deeply. Quite often I’ll have an overwhelming cocktail of feelings that once put to paper, are much simpler and easier to categorise, and therefore deal with in a healthy way.
