Short bio

TJ Hayes is a UK writer of irreverent rhyming picture books, unsettling flash fiction and tiny indie games. His books are written as much for the grown-ups reading aloud as for the children listening.

Longer bio

TJ Hayes started writing children’s books after realising that bedtime stories with his daughter were really just poetry, laid out in a fun way. The result is The Galactic Zoo series: a guided tour of the best and only zoo in this space quadrant, followed by Trevor the Emotional Lizard, a story about a weather-controlling alien that helps children accept every kind of feeling.

For older readers he writes flash fiction and the serial The Exoplanet Explorer; his story “Dante” was featured on BBC Radio Upload. He studied Creative Writing at Falmouth University.

Under the name Taylonius he makes indie games. His first, Pal8tro, is a poker roguelike that fits in a single PICO-8 cartridge, and he is now learning Godot for bigger projects. By day he works as an SEO content editor.
