This website is run by Taylor J Hayes (TJ Hayes, also making games as Taylonius), “I” or “me”. I’m the data controller for personal data collected through tjhayesbooks.com. You can contact me at [your email address].

What I collect and why

Contact form

Your name, email address, topic and message, so I can reply. I rely on my legitimate interest in answering enquiries, or on steps you’ve asked me to take before a contract. I keep messages for up to two years, then delete them.

The Signal newsletter and zine downloads

Your email address, so I can send the newsletter and the zines you asked for. I rely on your consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and your address is removed from the list when you use it.

English lessons

A parent’s or guardian’s name and contact details, plus the child’s first name, age and English level, so I can arrange and plan lessons. I only take children’s details from a parent or guardian. I rely on the contract for lessons. I keep these details while lessons continue and for up to [12 months] afterwards.

Editing clients

Business contact details and the content you send me, so I can do the work and invoice you. I rely on our contract, and I keep invoices for as long as tax law requires.

Who I share it with

I never sell your data. I use a small number of service providers who process it on my behalf: my web host [host name], my newsletter provider [e.g. MailerLite] and [analytics provider, if any]. Some may store data outside the UK or EEA, protected by safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to how I use it, or to take a copy. Where I rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Just email me. If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your data, you can complain to your data protection authority: [in Bulgaria, the Commission for Personal Data Protection (cpdp.bg); in the UK, the ICO (ico.org.uk)].

Children

Parts of this site are written for children, but the forms are for adults. If you’re under 16, please ask a parent or guardian to get in touch for you.

The site uses HTTPS, and I keep access to personal data to myself and the providers above.
